Cotton red, green and cheddar applique quilt, all hand stitched with an unusual, one-of-a-kind variation of the "Mexican Rose" pattern and a sawtooth border. Hand embroidered in the background is the date: "Oct. 7, 1901." The quilt measures 72" X 80" and is in excellent, never washed condition with the occasional light age spot and no wear. The quilting is superb, with grid and feathered wreath designs quilted throughout at 7-8 stitches to the inch with faint pencil marks still visible in places. The back and hand stitched, rolled binding are white and the batting is thin.
