SMALL ACOMA, RED-BROWN, WHITE & TAN POT, FINE-LINE STYLE: Possibly by either MARIE Z. CHINO or LUCY LEWIS, ca. 1950 Condition: It shows a little wear, hairlines. Mark: "Acoma N.M." Description: The pale, red-brown color of the line work is old and special. See references below. It is also called the "rain pattern." Fine-line work such as this one has become more common, but this one is spectacular. Note: (1) This unusual color, and fine-line work appears to be identical to the Lucy Lewis pot on the cover of the Lucy Lewis book. (2) The Academy of Sciences has a Lucy Lewis from the 1950s with the exact design, but with dark lines. (3) See Fourteen Families in Pueblo Pottery, p.87, exact design by Carrie Chino Charlie.
