Description
Magna Graecia, South Italy, Gnathian, ca 325 BCE. A gorgeous polychrome lekythos, the body decorated with an attractive net pattern in black, a band of concentric circles with traces of white fugitive pigment adorning the shoulder, vertical frets delineated in fugitive white pigment on the neck, and black glaze adorning most of the remaining areas of the vessel, creating a rich contrast with the caramel-hued ground. So lovely. Size: 1.875" in diameter x 4.2" H (4.8 cm x 10.7 cm)
