18TH C. SCOTTISH CLAYMORE BROADSWORD MARKED
Traditional Scottish highland claymore pierced basket hilted broadsword. Steel basket hilt decorated with traditional pierced heart pattern of the late 17th and early 18th century, prior to the transition to the Pattern 1828. Blade bears double edge and is marked on both sides of the blade inside of central fuller near ricasso "ANDRIA FARARA", ray skin with wire wrapped handle. Maker marked to a prominent Spanish blacksmithing clan of 17th and 18th century. With a decoratively engraved pommel.
