Description
Among the Vodun ( Voodoo ) religious tribes, Hevioso is the God of heaven, thunder, lightning and rain. Known to populations of southern Benin. Hevioso is a righteous God. He chastises liars, thieves and villains by smiting them. In certain places the bas-reliefs of the temples of Hèvioso represent this God in the form of a man with an axe. This lot contains 3 iron blades that represent the Voodoo God of Thunder and were typically placed on shrines and idols as a medium to the spirit world. The Idon blades have all been custom mounted to display stand. Provenance: The Dr Brian Healy estate, New York.
