Rare engraving: "L'Ingr. Chevallier" (with "ll"!), Opticien du Roi à Paris". - Jean Gabriel Augustin Chevallier (1778-1848) was as prominent as his colleagues from the Chavalier dynasty (one "l"). Chevallier was honored by French King Louis XVIII with the title "Opticien du Roi et des Princes". - Brass and copper fittings, protection flip-flap, without tripod and rack-and-pinion focusing, length of the telescope 39 1/3 in.
