(New Mexico, born 1952), "Koan: Passing Windows II", signed "James Koehler" on attached label and numbered "5" of eight editions, copyright "2002", tapestry hemmed on two sides, hand-dyed wool and cotton, attached Velcro for hanging, 29 x 57 in.; accompanied by receipt from artist, excellent condition Provenance: Private Collection, Greensboro, North Carolina James Koehler is a well-known Southwestern weaver who learned his craft while living in a Benedictine monastery in New Mexico. His tapestries featured in this catalog were inspired by Navajo chief blankets. Koehler's work is in collections of the Smithsonian National Museum of American Art (Renwick Gallery) and the Denver Art Museum.
