English Papier Mache Mother-of-Pearl Inlaid Gilt Decorated Lap Desk, c. 1880, the slanted scalloped edge lid opening to an interior with a velvet lined writing surface over open storage, behind a pentray, inkwell and stamp compartment, the exterior with elaborate gilt and paint tracery decoration, H.- 4 1/2 in., W.- 17 in., D.- 12 1/4 in. Provenance: from a collection of an antiquarian, Amite, Louisiana.
