21.75" x 27.5" print, framed 30.25" x 34.5" 1956 Signed and dated by the artist, Junichiro Sekino, wood block print, 31/50, titled "Monjuro and Jihei of Bunraku puppets" The Bunraku puppet theater was very popular and this star and his puppet were famous. The incredible detail in this piece is amazing considering it is made with a hand cut wood block and up to 17 stampings are required to achieve the colors, shading and effects. Always a limited number, this piece is from a second of 3 runs that were numbered. This piece is in magnificent condition, well preserved and cared for. No fading, damage or marks to print or frame.
