Description
A pair of early 20th century Iranian (Persian) silver napkin rings, Kermanshah circa 1920 Late Qajar dynasty, of circular barrel form with caulked rim. The sides with deep chased monabbat-kari decoration rectangular vignettes of figures derived from the Taghe Bostan, Kermanshah, including Khosrow Parviz on his favourite horse, Shabdiz, the investiture of Khosrow Parviz receiving the ring of office from Ahura Mazda the supreme Zoroastrian god, alongside Anahita goddess of waters. All separated with vertical pillars with stylised capitals. The other example with a continuous frieze of King Ashurbanipal seated before captured Elamite chiefs after the Battle of Ulai. Together with a pair of compressed circular napkin rings, Shiraz circa 1910, deep chased with various figural scenes including King Darius in combat with Ahriman and tributes before the seated king, all between stylised borders.
