Lladro has been creating porcelain art for over 60 years with a unique handmade process where a piece of porcelain becomes a work of art. This limited edition sculpture was a demanding challenge for the Lladro artists, who spent several years developing this incredibly technical and creative display. This opulent piece is set at the end of the 19th century and depicts 14 characters ready to embark on an exciting adventure, featuring lavishly dressed ladies with beautiful hats and parasols, elegant gentlemen with refined manners, the contentment of the train driver and the conductor, porters carrying heavy luggage, enthusiastic children excited by the prospect of a special event and even a little dog. The amount of detail in this piece is truly exceptional from the lace parasols to the flower bouquets on the tables inside of the train car. The piece measures just over 53" wide, 15.75" long and 17" high, and is one of Lladro's biggest pieces to date. A Grand Adventure Train was sculpted by Joan Coderch. This piece is signed by the artist and numbered "No. 72", and comes with the original box and framed certificate of authenticity. This opulent and dreamy piece retailed for $51,240, and is incredibly difficult to find. One example of this sculpture sold at a Tokyo auction in 2011 for $130,000. This piece is the most expensive Lladro piece ever sold according to several publications. Style No. 1888.
