NAME: Fishing Fleets In Gloucester, MA (titled on verso)

BIOGRAPHY:
Born in Indianapolis, Belle Robbins attended the local Manual Training High School there because Otto Stark (one of the four famous early Indiana artists) was head of the Art Department. Upon graduation she stayed on as Assistant in the Art Department. Later she attended Teacher's College in Indianapolis; continued her Manual Training studies; attended classes at Purdue and studied under Sister Rufinia. Her floral still life's were said to be similar to Sister Rufinia's in color and arrangement.Robbins received many prizes for her oils, textile painting and ceramics. She was a teacher of art at the Klondike School in Indianapolis for 19 years, in addition to always being available for private lessons at her studio. The artist was a member of the Art Club and the Lafayette Art Association. The family stated that she painted right up until her death.
