**First Time At Auction**

Ancient Central Europe, Danube River Basin, Hallstatt culture, Late Bronze Age, ca. 1400 to 1100 BCE. A cast leaded bronze sword fragment of an ornate design with a narrow handle that flares outwards along the bottom to form a bi-pronged pommel. A pair of triangular flanges flanks the blade shoulder, and the blade itself has a delineated edge running along both sides. Petite perforations are centered on the flanges for attaching decorative ornamentation with another pair of perforations present on the handle for attaching panels of wood, stone, or bone. Size: 8.25" L x 2" W (21 cm x 5.1 cm)

Faint remains of stabilization/preservation material visible across surfaces. Loss to top half of blade as shown. Minor abrasions and pitting to surfaces, with chipping to blade edges. Nice patina throughout.
