Description

Wonderful and detailed floral pen and ink drawings throughout. In Berkshire with the Wild Flowers by Elaine and Dora Goodale. Published 1879-80 by G. P. Putnam’s Sons (first edition). When Elaine Eastman was twelve, she and her sister, Dora, wrote “Apple Blossoms,” a book of poems for children that attained wide prominence. She was the first supervisor of schools in the Indian Territory of Dakota in 1890. Today, her career and influence are being given more serious consideration. Lovely copy with wear just at ends of tips and spine ends. One lower tip just starting to peek through, other tips rubbed. Spine ends with some minor fraying, more so at top. Clean with gilt on cover design nearly vivid. All edges gilt (still very bright). Front hinge starting to tear in a couple of small areas but still holding nicely. Rear hinge similar but less so. A nice copy. 6.75 x 8.5.92 pp.
