Description
Large Hummel, Meditation. First modeled by Theo R. Menzenbach in 1957 with full basked of flowers. AKA "Little Messenger". This size listed TW 31 December 1989. This is a close to a first issue as can be found. The only known TM2 is in the Stevens museum in Rosemont, Ill. Hummel measures approx. 13 1/2", TMK-3, Hum 13/V. No cracks, chips or repairs. Light crazing to the base. Box included has tears, tape marks and wear. See our other auction lots for more rare large and small M.I. Hummel and Goebel figurines. Provenance: From the estate collection of Donald Deeks (1931-2020) of Venice, Florida, who assembled what is purported to be one of the most important collections of rare Hummel figurines in existence. Blackwell Auctions has been commissioned by his family to sell the entire collection of about 2,000 pieces, many of them either unique or nearly so.
