Hummel Joyous News Angel with Lute holy water font. Modeled by Reinhold Unger in 1955. Has a stamped 1955 copyright date. Made as a sample only and not produced for sale as an open edition. Listed as a Closed Number on 6 April 1955. Hummel measures approx. 4 1/2" tall, TMK-2, Hum 241. No chips, cracks, crazing or repairs. No box. See our other auction lots for more rare large and small M.I. Hummel and Goebel figurines. Provenance: From the estate collection of Donald Deeks (1931-2020) of Venice, Florida, who assembled what is purported to be one of the most important collections of rare Hummel figurines in existence. Blackwell Auctions has been commissioned by his family to sell the entire collection of about 2,000 pieces, many of them either unique or nearly so.
