Description
A CHINESE EXPORT ROSEWOOD BONHEUR DU JOUR, SIGNED, ATTRIBUTED TO CANTON, LATE QING DYNASTY (1644-1912), the writing desk with a pointed arched crest and gallery of swirling clouds centering a flaming pearl surrounding a concave open top shelf over open cubbies flanked at left by a small cupboard door and at right two small drawers over a writing surface, above two drawers, each verso marked in white enamel calligraphy, the locks marked "Yootwah 2, Canton, China," over a scrolling tendril and oval cabochon carved skirt with central floret, raised on restrained cabriole legs ending in Queen Anne style pad feet on French toes. Height: 48" Width: 37" Depth: 22 1/2"
