Vintage Hollywood Regency hand-painted De Lee porcelain figurine, vase 1949.
Ceramic glazed figurine created by Jimmie Lee Stewart, marked on the bottom 'de Lee Art Hollywood, 1949'.
Jimmie Lee Stewart started deLee Company about 1936 creating animal and people figurines, wall pockets and a few cookie jars until about 1958. DeLee was active in Los Angeles, California from 1937 through the early part of the 1950s.
DeLee pieces are hand-painted, often with closed eyes and long lashes or scared-open eyes. DeLee was marked with a foil sticker and sometimes a stamped mark on ecru clay.Reference: Joanne Fulton Schaefer published a book on deLee Art in 1997, 144 pages of color photos in hardcover format entitled "Delee Art: The Pictorial Story of a California Artist and Her Company."

The figurine is approx. 7.3/4" [19.5cm] tall, c. 4" x 2.7/8" [10.2cm x 7.5cm] at the bottom. Nicely crackled glaze, no chips, no hairlines, very good condition.
