Two Chinese Export Rose Mandarin Vases

PROVENANCE:

The Estate of a Prominent Philadelphia Lady.

Both with restorations to rim and neck, at approximately top third of each vase, overpaint discolored and yellowed, especially evident to interior lip of vase; overpaint not as fine in restored areas. Both with light scratches and occassional surface abrasions. Both with moderate rubbing to gilt details, especially at handles; the smaller with light rubbing to painted decoration; the larger with more moderate rubbing to painted decoration, especially at sides of vase, and an area of 1/4" x 1/4" paint loss to body. The smaller vase with an area of 1" x ½" area of overpaint to foot, does not appear to be over a previous break, but is possible.
