Description
A Meissen Three-Piece Figural Clock Garniture
1815-1860
Each with blue crossed sword mark to undersides. (3).
H: 15 3/4 in. (clock); H: 19 1/2 in. (candelabra)
PROVENANCE:
Private Collection, Yardley, Pennsylvania.
Condition
All: some light surface scratches to surface, some rubbing to painted and gilt decoration. Some chips to floral petals and leaves, mostly small chips, primarily to arms of candelabra; more noticable damage and losses to clock. Wax residue present to candlestick holders. One candlestick: with a ring of adhesive applied below the bobeche, unclear if it is covering restoration. Underside with discoloration from rusted bolt. Clock: not tested for timekeeping ability, Freeman's does not guarantee working condition, dial and backplate apparently unmarked; winding keys not present; backplate replaced and likely the clock mechanism as well. More substantial losses and chips to flowers, leaves, and applied decoration; one putti with chip to toe.
