Original etching by famous Russian/Ukranian Jewish artist, Issachar Ber Ryback (1897-1935), known for depictions of traditional Jewish life. Born in Ukraine, he studied at the Kiev Academy from 1911 to 1916. He became part of the Jewish-modernist group in Russia which included Chagall, Lissitsky, Aronson and Altman. He moved to Berlin in 1921 where he was part of the avant garde movement there before returning to Moscow in 1925 in order to decorate for the Moscow Theatre. Ryback relocated to Paris in 1926 where he would remain for the rest of his life until in early death in 1935. During his career he exhibited in Paris as well as in Cambridge, the Hague, Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Brussels. Works by the artist are in the permanent collection of the Ryback Museum in Israel. Size of the images are: 7.5" x 10.5" (Jewish farmers in Crimea: women working outdoors) 8" x 11 (Everyday household life: women working in the house while men reading scripture).

The paper has yellowed with time. The larger etching has its bottom part a bit damaged, not touching the actual etched part (as seen in the pictures).
