This lot consists of an unframed oil painting on canvas, done in the avant-garde style of Natalia Goncharova (Russian, 1881-1962). This rich image depicts a still life of a stunning floral arrangement. A highly unusual attention to texture and value is not to be overlooked. Hand-painted inscription at lower right can be noted. A bold and stirring piece that would grace any collection. This unframed work of art measures approximately 23" x 18".

Natalia Goncharova (Russian, 1881-1962) was a multimedia artist and radical thinker who held an incalculable influence over the Russian avant-garde. The blending of sacred and profane imagery was a motif that Goncharova was naturally drawn to, leading to a great deal of harassment from the public. Aesthetically, Goncharova strove to adjoin Western and Eastern traditions, celebrating heritage and everyday culture.
