Description
This lot consists of a gouache illustration on card stock, rendered in the Post-Impressionist style of Paul Cezanne (French, 1839-1906). "P. Cezanne" is painted by hand at bottom right. This dynamic still life portrays a bowl of apples and a supple lemon. A fine testament to Cezanne's adept talent. This painting would be a highlight to any art collector's gallery. Unframed piece measures approximately 9.5" x 7.25".
Reverse side of piece features one circular stamp, which is illegible to this author but may be written in German.
Paul Cezanne (French, 1839-1906) is regarded as one of the greatest contributors to the Post-Impressionist era, a herald of modernity and an influence on many later art movements, including Fauvism, Expressionism, and even Cubism. Cezanne's art grew up and out of the Impressionist era, but would come to subvert all convention and ultimately stand for unwavering integrity in the painter's craft.
