Description
A Tall carved Ironwood sculpture of what appears to be a Colonial man in western pants and shirt with stylized facial features and crown like finial. The clothing is incised into the sculpture and quite faint from weathering and exposure to the elements. Hampatong served a number of different purposes. Such ancestors are believed to protect a village by warding off evil spirits. The sculpture measures 43.75 inches tall on professional custom display stand. Provenance: Daeng Iskandar collection, Indonesia.

Weathered and worn, very solid.
