Item Details

Description

Suite of Twelve George III-Style Mahogany Dining Chairs

20th century, consisting of two armchairs and ten side chairs, each with a carved eagle's head at the shoulders of the crest rail, the shaped splat with a pierced and carved pinwheel, with padded seat and raised on cabriole legs with acanthine-carved knees and ending in ball-and-claw feet.

Provenance: Keil's Antiques, New Orleans, Louisiana, 2006.

Condition

They are structurally sound and very sturdy except for one side chair which has slight looseness to the back. One chair has an old glued repair where the back splat meets the seat frame. Another with a little filler to the carved crest rail. They are very well carved. Some have a little fading and imperfections to their finish on their back sides. The fabric is clean.
