Description
Native American, Pacific Northwest Coast, ca. mid 20th century. Hand-carved from cedar wood, a totem representing the Thunderbird, with its distinctive face presenting characteristically large eyes, raised ears, and curved beak. The Thunderbird is perched upon its legs with outspread wings and nicely delineated plumage and talons. Below is another totemic animal, perhaps a bear, and the entire form is attached to a plinth made from a cross section of a log. Size: 6.5" W x 7.25" H (16.5 cm x 18.4 cm)
