Published by the Walker Lithograph and Publishing Co., Boston.
Image size 25 7/8 x 32 1/2" (65.7 x 82.4 cm).
Besides naming streets and wharfs, this map shows important buildings, ferry and railroad lines. Also outlined here is the original shoreline of Boston, before landfill greatly extended the city's boundaries.
The Walker Co. was formed in 1880 by George Hiram Walker and his brother Oscar. They were very prolific, publishing maps, atlases and bird's eye views of New England locales. The Walkers were the last of Boston's important lithographers. Former President George Bush is a descendent of this family.
