NEW YORK – Brazil’s modernist architecture may be better known, but the country’s distinctive midcentury modern furniture is getting new international attention.

Sensuous curves, tropical woods, woven leathers, and traditional techniques like caning and netting were all part of a style that developed from the 1940s to the 1970s called Brazil Modern.

BALTIMORE – The new Alice in Wonderland exhibit at Geppi’s Entertainment Museum (GEM) showcases more than 200 pieces of Alice memorabilia from the collection of Matt Crandall. The art and sculptures are displayed in multiple sections of the museum, starting in the entryway, then wrapping through the main halls and into exhibit rooms.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) – Famed architect Frank Lloyd Wright took a taxi from a luncheon in his honor at the Pendennis Club to visit the Jefferson County Courthouse at Sixth and Jefferson streets during a trip to Louisville in May 1948 to speak at the University of Louisville.

DETROIT (AP) – A new mural is planned for a building in downtown Detroit.

New York artists and twins Davide and Raoul Perre have been commissioned to do the 184-foot-tall by 60-foot-wide artwork at One Campus Martius.
