OAK PARK, Ill. – The John Toomey Gallery, in association with Treadway Gallery, will present a 20th Century Art & Design auction on Saturday, June 4, beginning at 10 a.m. Central. This 81-lot auction will begin with furniture and decorative arts primarily from the Arts & Crafts and Art Nouveau movements, including Gustav Stickley, Tiffany lighting, Teco and Rookwood pottery, Kalo silver, and architect-designed furniture and windows by Frank Lloyd Wright.
CONCORD, N.H. (AP) – An oil painting by American impressionist Edmund C. Tarbell that was rolled up and forgotten for more than a century has been restored just in time to be included in a large retrospective of the artist’s work.
MONROVIA, Calif. – John Moran’s June 18 decorative art auction features an interesting array of property, ranging from traditional Continental and French furniture and smalls to contemporary and mid-century modern design.
Absentee and Internet live bidding will be available through LiveAuctioneers.com.
Western buyers will also be pleased to find a number of Western-genre paintings (above) and bronzes, many from the estate of Phoebe Hearst Cooke, as well as a small selection of Native American items within Moran’s June catalog. With approximately 270 cataloged lots, Moran’s sale will feature objects and art offered at a wide range of estimates.
The first pieces from a large collection of high-quality clocks consigned from a private Laguna Beach collection are to be offered at Moran’s June sale, and are only a small preview of the good things to come. Complementing the selection of Laguna Beach timepieces, a very fine Swiss cylinder music box (below) on stand by Baptiste-Antoine Bremond (1834-1925) is to be brought to the block with an impressive $15,000 to $25,000 estimate. Recently cleaned and repaired, the music box is in excellent working condition, and features flutes, whistles, drums and bells, which play 48 songs across eight interchangeable cylinders.
Excellent examples of 20th century design can be found throughout Moran’s June 18 catalog. Mid-century modern selections include a pair of Charles Eames for Herman Miller molded plywood LCW chairs (below) dating to the late 1940s.

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) – Boulders shift, canyons erode, old trees fall, new ones grow and tourists crowd Yellowstone National Park, the length of their vacations barely any time at all in the stream of history.
