1957 Chevrolet Bel-Air, $31,860, Cordier Auctions

A fully restored 1957 Chevrolet Bel-Air two-door hardtop sold for $31,860 at an antique auction held May 20 by Cordier Auctions in Harrisburg, Pa. Also, a painting by Harold Newton (American, 1934-1994), one of the legendary Florida Highwaymen, fetched $3,894; a 1924 Steinway Model B grand piano finished on a high note at $11,800; a 14K gold ring with a 2.16-carat diamond solitaire sold for $12,980; and an Eames for Howard Miller lounge chair brought $2,242. Prices include the buyer’s premium.

Italian ‘Casablanca’ movie poster sells for $478,000 at auction

DALLAS (AP) – The only known surviving Italian issue poster for the classic movie Casablanca has sold for $478,000 in Dallas at a public auction of vintage movie posters. Read more

CLEVELAND (AP) – Whoever broke into an Ohio museum and stole a solid-gold replica of the Apollo 11 lunar module likely intends to melt it down for the value of the gold instead of trying to sell what could be a collectible worth millions of dollars, said a retired NASA agent who has helped recover stolen moon rocks worth millions of dollars.

Edvard Munch paintings making US debut at SFMOMA

SAN FRANCISCO — The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art announces the global debut of the exhibition “Edvard Munch: Between the Clock and the Bed,” on view through Oct. 9. Featuring approximately 45 paintings produced between the 1880s and the 1940s, with seven on view in the United States for the first time, this exhibition uses the Norwegian artist Edvard Munch’s last significant self-portrait as a starting point to reassess his entire career.

CRANSTON, R.I. – A men’s Patek Philippe platinum perpetual calendar chronograph watch soared to $88,750, a platinum 5.99-carat diamond engagement ring sold for $33,750, and three oil on canvas paintings by the Ukrainian expressionist Mychajlo Moroz (1904-1992) sold for a combined $5,062 at a Bruneau & Co.
