NEW YORK – An 8-foot-tall fountain was one of top sellers at Capo Auction Fine Art and Antiques’ sale June 24, along with select pieces of antique furniture. The fountain, by Benedetto Robazza (Italian, b. 1934), depicts two horses splashing in the sea. Composed of plaster and having green and blue weathered patina, the mid-20th century work sold for $3,300. Absentee and Internet live bidding was available through LiveAuctioneers.

LYNBROOK, N.Y. – Ocean liner memorabilia took top lot honors at Weiss Auctions’ June 22 sale, as a letter handwritten aboard the ill-fated RMS Titanic on April 13, 1912 sold for $22,600, an original life ring from the SS Andrea Doria brought $8,050 and a glass clock presented to first-class passengers on the maiden voyage of the SS Normandie in 1935 made $4,560. MONROVIA, Calif. – In a slimmed-down affair, John Moran Auctioneers’ Traditional Collector sale June 20 consisted of only 229 lots of French furniture, European silver, porcelain, paintings, and clocks.
