LONDON – A recently discovered work by esteemed French 19th-century painter Jean Victor Louis Faure (1786-1879) stole the spotlight in Dreweatts Old Master, British and European Art sale on May 26 when it sold for £200,000 (about $252,000) – more than six times its low estimate of £30,000. The painting had been discovered in a family home in Norfolk, where it hung unnoticed for 60 years.
