MADRID – The Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza, in collaboration with The National Gallery, London, will present a retrospective on the British painter Lucian Freud (1922-2011) to mark the centenary of the artist’s birth. Lucian Freud: New Perspectives opens at the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza on February 14 and continues through June 18.

Madrid museum explores legacy of Surrealist Rene Magritte

MADRID – The Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza is holding the first retrospective in Madrid on the Belgian artist and leading Surrealist Rene Magritte (1898-1967) since the exhibition held at the Fundacion Juan March in 1989. Its title, The Magritte Machine, emphasizes the repetitive and combinatorial element present in the work of this painter, whose obsessive themes constantly recur with innumerable variations. The show opened September 14 and continues through January 30, 2022.

Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza announces Georgia O’Keeffe exhibition

MADRID — The Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza has announced the first retrospective in Spain on Georgia O’Keeffe (1887-1986). Through a curated selection of 90 works, visitors to the museum will experience the pictorial universe of a creative figure considered one of the leading representatives of 20th-century American art.
