NEW YORK – On Saturday, October 28, starting at 8 pm Eastern time, Jasper52 will hold a sale titled Beyond Cubism: The Picasso Evolution Auction, featuring almost 150 lots of linocuts, lithographs and other works on paper by the Spanish legend. Absentee and Internet live bidding will be available through LiveAuctioneers.

Picasso (1881-1973) was a master among masters who refused to confine his genius to one medium. Painting, drawing, sculpture, stage design, ceramics, silver and gold objects, tapestries, and, yes, printmaking all captured his attention and exercised his talents. As the world marks the 50-year anniversary of his death, Jasper52 offers this sale of Picasso prints.

Several of the works draw on Carnet de la Californie, a 1950s Picasso sketchbook that became the focus of a series of lithographs. These include Untitled No. 12, an elaborate interior dated 1/11/1955 and estimated at $400-$500.

A recurring subject that appears in Picasso works in the sale are toreadors and bullfighting, a pursuit that was popular in his day. A lithograph simply titled Corrida, one of the few such bullfighting-themed works in the lineup that is rendered in color, has an estimate of $450-$550.

Completing the highlights is the 1978 Picasso linocut in colors titled Large Red Blue & Yellow Head, which measures 17 by 14in and carries an estimate of $300-$350.
