Shipping was the biggest issue, auction house provided the names of several private shipping companies so not their direct responsibility and I understood this prior to bidding. I used Perryman Plus-Serious delays and poorly packaged leading to product damage, unfortunately I can't recommend Perryman after this experience. Photo's of items where reasonable but failed to show lead oxidation which destroys the value of the items I bid on, once again not a direct fault of the auction house. I could have asked for further info or photos, but a note in the description would have been nice. These are the risks I have accepted when dealing with on-line auctions. Not being there to visually inspect and pick up a successful bid is always going to led to some disappointment.

I am very disappointed with the Live Auctions especially in the US as few provide any pack and post service. If Auction Houses want to attract worldwide customers they need to assist the buyer in making the process smoother and not so stressful. They should not leave the poor buyer left with trying finding a 3rd party shipper who is not going to rip them off. I bought a $30 item from Coopers (very cheap worth about $100) and was quoted $150 pack & post by the shipper. I eventually persuaded Coopers to send it to me for $60. I have bought similar items on Ebay from the US and paid about $30-40 postage. I have been turned off with Live auctions as you don't know what the final fee will be and in cases it works out more expensive with no guarantee that the item will arrive in one piece. Ebay covers any item that you buy and it must arrive the in the condition as you bought it. You need to tell them to lift their game. John

The auction before this one I received ab glass sculpture that had an undisclosed small burst air bubble in it. They refunded my money and took it back, no questions asked. Also although they don't ship, they have helped me out by handling that for me. They are a very good auction house.

their shippers are ridiculously overpriced one has a 49.00 MINIMUM. I eventually used the pack and ship company that was far more reasonable. Their UPS store was absurd as was the other shipper on the list. The item was very small and only one was somewhat reasonable. I am getting tired of the Auction shippers making ridiculous profits on lots and it is getting worse this year! Cutting back on bidding for this reason.

Alex Cooper does an excellent job. I enjoy having what things I have purchased at their auctions. I like the quality of their offerings.

When requesting survey information of an a particular auction house, it would be helpful if you included the Lot information; i. e., Steuben Crystal Ewer, etc.
