Description
A Dogon Standing Figure Mali, c. 19th century or earlier Solid iron with patina of great age. The figure stands with knees and arms flexed and hands held forward as though dancing or making an offering. The neck is long and tapers to the head, grooved four times to create neck rings or necklace. The head with a spatulate beard descending from chin, faintly marked facial features, raised ears, and a domed shaped cap or hairdo at crown. In good condition, appropriate for its age, origin, and material; fingers of the proper left hand fused or lost in the making.
