Knowledgeable, friendly, wonderful staff. I have bought treasures from McInnis Auctioneers for 10 + years and have never been let down with quality, etc. I've learned so much from attending their auctions, and they always have time to answer questions. Although I don't spend millions, they treat me like I do!

I don't know what their problem is, but they don't answer the phone, you have to leave messages that don't get answer etc... The shipping is a nightmare... All takes terribly long time.. I don't recommend it.

Cathy was very pleasant and helpful. It was easy to make arrangements for payment and shipping of my items. I did find it a little difficult to reach them by phone (several tries over three days), but this was around the holidays and did not seem unreasonable.

Been a frustrating experience after winning a lot at McInnis. When I called to pay the invoice I had to call my bank first to increase my point of sale limit for the day. So I gave the debit card info to McInnis and noticed 2 days later nothing happened. I called back and they said they haven’t put the payment through yet. I had to call my bank again for a pos increase then call McInnis back and tell them they had to put the payment through that day, which they did. They don’t ship in-house so I got 2 quotes from shippers, both ridiculously expensive but that’s not McInnis’s fault except the process to get the items shipped has been the most frustrating I’ve had with an auction house. I told ups to go ahead with the pick-up and emailed McInnis to have the items released to ups. Almost 2 weeks go by with no response from anyone even after emailing ups. I call McInnis on a Tuesday, give them my name and ask if the items have been picked up. They said the items will be picked up Thursday. Not hearing anything I call on Thursday and they say I never authorized the release to ups and ups has already been there and left. I told them I did email them (they say they never received it) and also I told them I just spoke with them on Tuesday and you said the items are ready to be picked up. Why didn’t they tell me when I called that I still needed to fill out the release form? Why didn’t McInnis or ups call me on Thursday to say the items are ready and I need to authorize it? Instead nothing. The items are still being “held” and it’ll be a month after paying that I finally receive them. They seem like they’re always a rush on the phone. This could have been avoided if they actually told me they needed more info when I called 2 days before ups went there. Frustrating experience and one I don’t want to go through again.

Honest and reliable

The description of the items in one lot was incompetently written by someone whose 1st language is probably not English, and who apparently has little or no experience in correctly and professionally. Specifically, the writer clearly identified an antique item by the maker's name twice in the description. To be clear-the maker's name was not implied; it was clearly stated twice indicating the the piece was properly marked. My estimation of the piece's value and my bid was based on this information. What I rec'd was an unmarked piece whose value was considerably less than my bid. A universally accepted way to described unmarked antiques whose maker whose seller claims to know the identity of the maker. On top of that, when I notified McInnis about this they never evev bothered to respond. Needless to say, this is not an auction house I will ever buy from again.

I had a shipping question for John McInnis Auctioneers and thier team responded quickly and followed up to make sure I was satisfied and happy. I would recommend them whether buying or selling. You folks rock.
