Fantastic Rev War 1782 Document for Sale of Cannons
REVOLUTIONARY WAR. Manuscript Document Signed by Benjamin Jepson, 1 p., Boston, May 28, 1782, 11.5" x 7.5". Expected folds, some with paper loss, slight toning. Rare.
Manuscript account between Captain James Perry and Benjamin Jepson, for the sale of 3 cannons, casks of flour, and miscellaneous items in exchange for a vast amount of salt.
James Perry (1744-1808) was a foundry owner in Easton, MA. He manufactured cannons and cannon balls for the Continental Army. In addition to providing goods for the Army, Perry saw war service, raised a company of Easton troops, and marched on the April 19, 1775 alarm.
Benjamin Jepson (1734-1811) was a public office holder of Boston who was active in raising provisions for the Army.
