Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 2nd to 3rd century CE. A gorgeous example of a double unguentarium meant for holding two different types of scented oils or kohl makeup, free-blown from translucent glass of a vibrant yellow-green hue. The slender vessel bears a pinched base, a pair of cylindrical containers surrounded by trails of applied glass, thick rims, and remains of the original rigaree handles. Attractive areas of silvery and rainbow-hued iridescence have formed across the vessel and elegantly accentuate its bright spring green color. Size: 1.875" W x 4.8" H (4.8 cm x 12.2 cm); 5.2" H (13.2 cm) on included custom stand.

Vessel base is adhered to display stand and cannot be removed. Losses to areas of trailing on body and rigaree near shoulders and rims as shown. Abrasions to body, shoulder, and rims, with weathering film, light encrustations, and minor micro-bubbling within glass matrix. Light earthen deposits and wonderful iridescence throughout.
