Description
Circa 1870 Antique Cabinet Card Photograph; Depiction of the Union School House of Bath/Nazareth, Pennsylvania. Research indicates that this octagonal stone building was built in 1828 in Upper Nazareth Twp. near Bath and Smoketown. It was originally a German speaking school. A local mason, Daniel Michael, constructed the school with limestone walls that were 18 inches thick. Photograph is by W. H. Hertzog of Nazareth, Pennsylvania. Approximate mount size is 10" x 8". Condition: light surface soiling, occasional dings, scuffs, edge bumps, and foxing spots.
