Description
PENNSYLVANIA POLYCHROME-DECORATED EARTHENWARE / REDWARE SPANIEL FIGURAL BANK, lead-, copper-, and manganese-glazed over a slip wash, left-facing hollow seated form with closed front legs coin slot to underside. Attributed to George Wagner, Carbon Co., PA. Second half 19th century. 6 /12" H, 3" x 4 1/2" base.
Excellent undamaged condition except for a few very minor glaze flakes, coin slot with some spalling to edges.
Provenance: The collection of the late Theodore "Ted" and Alvina Breckel, Oley, PA and Winnetka, IL.
