Pre-Columbian, Northern Peru, Chimu-Inca, ca. 1100 to 1500 CE. An elegant tweezer tool made from electrum, with a content of 62% gold and 32% silver. The tool is constructed from a sheet that is cut into two slightly convex discs. The thin strip that connects the discs is bent in the center with a piercing for suspension. Tweezers like this example were used by both men and women as depilatory tools to pull hairs off the face and other regions of the body. Beautifying the body with a beautiful tool!
