North America, United States, ca. early to mid-19th century CE. An elegant antique powderhorn comprised of a cow or ox horn body naturally curved to a tapered spout embellished with a raised ring near its end. The lovely hardwood base plug is adorned with an inlaid 5-pointed metal star surrounded by petite ungulate bone dots forming the outline of a larger star and a diamond-shaped wood inlay bearing a tiny metal hook for suspension. Size: 3.125" in diameter x 11.25" H (7.9 cm x 28.6 cm)
Provenance: private Glorieta, New Mexico, USA collection; purchased from Cliff Logan, San Marcos, Texas, USA at the Brian Lebel High Noon Show in Mesa, Arizona, USA in 2020

Condition
Chipping to area just above raised ring and missing one bone dot inlay. Expected surface wear throughout with scratches and nicks/chips, especially to spout. Otherwise, very nice.
