Description
A framed Chinese dragon kesi panel dating from the 18th century. The dragon is chasing flaming pearls on a brown ground. The embroidery features gold and silver thread. The frame itself features a ruyi cloud fabric on its front surface as well as gold-colored sides.
Dimensions are: 12 1/2 inches tall X 13 1/4 inches wide, 31.8 cm X 33.7 cm, while the frame measures 17 3/4 inches tall X 18 1/2 inches wide, 45.1 cm X 47 cm. All measurements are approximate.
Condition: There is fading as well as some pulled and loose threads. The frame has loss to the paint on the sides.
Provenance: From Mr. Burns in Palm Springs, California. Most of the items were acquired in New York City over 30 years ago.
