Fine, Chinese 12th Century Yuan Dynasty Period, blue & white traveler jar on stand. The porcelain potted in jar shape, having thick potted body, sturdily potted in a bulbous body, ovoid belly on middle gently tapered on shoulder toward prominent, with short neck opening lip, and raised on small round foot base. All reserved hand painted ornamentations are rendered in clean white underglaze base color which contrast against the cobalt blue fine color. Blue and white porcelain in Chinese it is called Qing Hua Ci. It is the most important variety of China’s porcelain. It was originated in the Yuan Dynasty. Its color does not easily fade and durability is longer. It used cobaltous oxide as the colorant. Patterns were directly painted onto the inner body and burnt after glaze was applied on it. The main belly decorated with a sage group riding a horse on the meadow beside the rocky, dense tree, flowers blooms, all in a salubrious garden landscape. The shoulder festooned with peony flowers blooms interspersed interlocking tendril and foliage. The neck adorned with thrashing wavy Lishui water, and the foot base rim with geometric petals and auspicious ornament. The horse is known in ancient times to symbolize perseverance, speed, power, and strength Elegantly and smooth presented upon a carved hardwood stand with archaic ruyi pattern. The Lines of the drawings are clear, the light and dark shades are subtle. The underside unglazed, revealed the pale-creme ground and dark grayish brown spotted firing marks with edge-cut foot rim. The porcelain conformed all required specimen to be high valued Chinese porcelain wares, with finest material, the whiteness, and the glaze. Without overlap the outlines of the design, clear, subtle, distinct, and the shape is uniformly proportioned.
