Superbly mounted in gilded, engraved and nielloed silver with rectangular pommel and ferrule, the grip covered entirely in twisted silver wire. The broad, parallel-edged blade with tapering point, forged with double fullers which reveal a complex and prominent pattern-welded damascus pattern; each side covered in elaborate gold-inlaid panels containing interlacing vinework and pious inscriptions, including, VICTORY FROM GOD AND CONQUEST NEAR!, together with a gold maker’s mark at the forte. The velvet-covered wooden scabbard with large engraved and nielloed mounts decorated and gilt en suite with the hilt. With its walrus handled by-knife intact, the blued blade inscribed, OWNER HASSAN. First half of the 19th century.Minor wear.Overall length 56.4 cm. Condition I
