Ray Prohaska (American, 1901-1981), Electron's Even Song
oil on canvas on board, signed at lower right, inscribed to verso, presented in a gilt edged floater frame.
Frame dimensions 10 x 13 in.
Born in Yugoslavia, Prohaska and his family immigrated to the United States in 1909. He began his art studies at the San Francisco Art Institute School of Fine Arts and maintained a studio in the city for several years. By 1930, he had settled in New York and was a successful magazine illustrator. Prohaska later taught at The Art Students League of New York and was artist-in-residence at Washington and Lee University in Virginia.
