This lot consists of an ink illustration on paper, done in the modern style of artist Jean Cocteau (French, 1889-1963). "Jean Cocteau 1963" is hand written at bottom. Image depicts a young, nymph-like figure playing an upturned wind instrument. Executed in the abstract expressionist style for which Cocteau is known. This unframed piece measures approximately 10.5" x 6.75".

Born to a wealthy family in a small village, Maisons-Lafitte, near Paris, France, Jean Cocteau (1889-1963) had a multi-faceted career as a stage designer, graphic artist, ceramicist, sculptor, poet and film maker.
