ITALIAN AND FRENCH 0.800 AND 0.950 SILVER OPEN SALTS AND SALT SPOON, LOT OF FOUR, comprising an Italian 0.800 silver double open salt with mark possibly for Morelli Sirio of Firenze featuring a center Caryatid handle, a French 0.800 silver salt spoon by V. Boivin of Paris with shell bowl and pierced handle tip, and a pair of 0.950 silver open salts by Emile Puiforcat (possibly Jean Puiforcat) of Paris featuring dolphins with tridents at corners, each open salt with cobalt blue glass liner. Each piece marked. Total weight excluding glass liners and Italian example having liners frozen: 1.680 ozt. Second half 19th/20th century. Italian open salt 3" HOA, 5 1/2" LOA.
Condition
French examples in very good to excellent overall condition with minor wear, surface scratches, slight bending, one or a few possible minute dents, liners with a few to some minute to small flakes and/or nicks; Italian salt with oxidation to metal likely from salt causing liners to be frozen in frame, other imperfections including wear, surface scratches, and some bending.
