Description
Both are ALS, from J.C. Nash of Huntsville, Alabama to Stephen C. Shaw of Parkersburg, (West) Virginia, dated Oct. 15 and Nov. 9th, 1845. Both include typical friendly content, talking of family, work, etc. The November letter takes a grim turn when Nash talks of money trouble and considering getting a "Deed of Trust on a family of Negros..." because he doesn't want to sell them as "they are selling for less than ever was known here." (SS26)
Condition
Light toning and scattered staining; both have fold lines with some losses and separations
